University of Pécs, Faculty of Pharmacy provides an Academic Programme that leads to a Dr. Pharm degree. The programme has a duration of five years and commences with an introduction to fundamental sciences that serve as the foundation for subsequent pharmaceutical studies. In the latter part of the programme, students participate in general and specialized pharmaceutical education offered by various university departments, teaching pharmacies, institutes, laboratories, and pharmaceutical companies.
The diploma program comprises of five years of studies encompassing both basic and specialized subjects. The initial two years are focused on basic sciences, while the remaining three years concentrate specifically on pharmaceutical sciences. During the third, fourth, and fifth years, students participate in practical training at public pharmacies or pharmaceutical companies in Hungary or their respective home countries. In the ninth semester, students are required to submit a written thesis, followed by a six-month practical training program in public and hospital pharmacies during the tenth semester. Upon completion of the practical training, students must take examinations in the presence of the State Board to demonstrate their proficiency in both practical and theoretical pharmaceutical sciences.
Holders of the Dr. Pharm. diploma are eligible to work in various fields, including public and hospital pharmacies, laboratories, pharmaceutical works, pharmaceutical research institutes, international commercial trade of pharmaceuticals, and management of pharmaceutical materials.
University of Pécs, Pharmacy Degree Entrance Exam
The Pharmacy Program admission process requires an oral exam interview, which is conducted by a university professor via Skype or Zoom. The interview lasts for 20-30 minutes and focuses on medicine-related questions and the candidate’s motivation. Prior to the exam, candidates must contact the university’s provided Skype ID via email and ensure that they have a camera and microphone for the interview. The entrance exam interview is usually scheduled for mid-July.
Candidates can also take the interview during an exam occasion organized by the English Admissions and Student Service Office of the University of Pécs Medical School. To do so, they must register with “Hun Education” two weeks before the exam and pay the 450 USD entrance exam and application fee.
