The goal of this degree program is to train experts who possess a comprehensive understanding of the history, language, language usage, literature, intellectual and material culture, as well as the identity of the German minority in Hungary. Furthermore, students will acquire significant expertise in the German language, literature, and culture. The program also encompasses an introduction to the broader legal, social, and institutional contexts that shape minority life. In alignment with the MA degree program in German Studies, this curriculum offers a thorough exploration of various areas, including the historical and contemporary dimensions of literary studies and linguistics, diverse schools, trends, and genres within German literature, the evolutionary path of the German language, as well as sociolinguistics and contact linguistics.
