Course Description

The Master of Arts in Andragogy/Adult Education program at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Pécs, aims to produce professionals adept in adult learning and education. It recognizes education as a dynamic process deeply intertwined with human, cultural, and social development, occurring across various settings including families, communities, schools, and workplaces. This program equips participants with a profound understanding and valuable skills to effectively engage with adult learners in both formal and non-formal environments. Furthermore, graduates will be prepared to contribute to policy-making and the provision of services for adult learners at different levels of educational institutions and organizations. The program is led by Dr. habil Balázs NÉMETH PhD, an Associate Professor in Adult Learning and Education. The curriculum spans two years, consisting of four semesters, and is conducted in English. Tuition fees are EUR 2500 per semester for non-EU students and EUR 1900 per semester for EU students, along with an application fee of EUR 140. The program at the University of Pécs offers a comprehensive education in adult and lifelong learning, addressing key issues faced by contemporary societies. Graduates are prepared for successful careers in adult and vocational education, work-place learning, second chance education, coaching and counseling, community education and development, educational policy and research, international development, and special education needs. The curriculum covers a range of subjects, providing a balanced blend of theory and practical application. Students engage in various teaching, learning, and assessment methods, fostering a learner-centered approach. The program also offers opportunities for international collaboration through an EU-funded international adult education academy program, enabling students to study adult education and lifelong learning in partner universities across Europe. This provides a unique platform for practical skill development and knowledge exchange with peers from different countries.
